Timothy Berndt Selected as the New Interim Principal for Cle Elum-Roslyn High School

Dear Cle Elum-Roslyn School Community,

We are pleased to introduce Timothy Berndt as the new Interim Principal for Cle Elum-Roslyn High School! Born and raised in Tacoma, Tim Berndt brings a wealth of experience and passion for education to our school community. He earned a Bachelor’s in Biology from the University of Puget Sound and a Master’s in Education from Central Washington University.

Tim’s teaching career began in 1979 at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, where he taught middle and high school math, science, and computer science, and coached football, wrestling, soccer, and softball. His administrative journey started at Sultan High School and later included roles as a Principal in Chelan and an administrator in Tacoma.

Tim and his wife, Susan, operated a dairy farm in Snoqualmie for nine years before he returned to education, teaching science and serving as Dean of Students at Enumclaw High School. Over the past five years, Tim has been working with the Easton School District and the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District in various administrative roles, including Interim Superintendent and Principal.

Married for 43 years, Tim and Susan have two daughters, both in education, and four grandchildren. The Berndts have called Cle Elum home for the past 16 years. Tim’s hobbies include skiing, golf, fishing, pickleball, hiking, and spending time with his grandkids.

Upon accepting this role, Principal Berndt said, “Over the past five years I have enjoyed working with the students, staff and parents of the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District. As the interim principal, I am extremely excited to support the high school community through this transitional phase.

Superintendent John Belcher said, "We are excited to welcome Timothy Berndt as our Interim Principal at Cle Elum-Roslyn High School. His extensive experience and commitment to continuous improvement align perfectly with our strategic goals. Tim’s passion for supporting students and staff will be invaluable as we embark on this new chapter together."

Tim firmly believes that “in a small community, every student is a big deal,” and we are excited to have him lead our high school as we begin this school year!
