Update: the Legislative Session was moved to January 31st.
The Cle Elum-Roslyn School District (CERSD) is proud to announce that members of the CERSD Prevention Club have been invited to participate in a significant civic engagement opportunity. On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, our Prevention Club students will testify via Zoom at the Washington State legislative session on two important bills:
House Bill #1203
Senate Bill #5183
These bills advocate for the prevention of flavored tobacco and nicotine sales in Washington State, reflecting a commitment to improving public health and protecting youth from the harmful impacts of tobacco use.
This momentous opportunity allows our students to:
Experience the legislative process firsthand.
Engage in meaningful advocacy for public health.
Build valuable public speaking and civic participation skills.
CERSD is deeply invested in the health and future of our students, and we are honored that our Prevention Club has been selected to contribute to this important discussion. Their involvement exemplifies the power of youth voices in shaping a healthier, brighter future for our community.
Stay tuned for updates on this exciting event, and join us in cheering on our students as they make a difference at the state level!
