Gray Wolf Families,
As part of our ongoing focus on student and staff safety, this afternoon at 1:30pm the Elementary, Middle and High schools conducted a Lockdown Drill.
Throughout the school year, we will hold a variety of drills including: Fire, Earthquake, Secure and Teach, as well as Lockdowns. The exact day/time of our drills will not be publicized. The purpose of these drills is to teach our students what to do in case of an emergency.
We take care to ensure that students have age appropriate talking points in preparation for each drill that we conduct.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this or any other drill please contact the Elementary Office.
Sincerely,
David VanGeelkerken, Cle Elum-Roslyn Elementary Principal

Hello 2nd and 3rd grade parents,
The Smile Survey takes place about every five years for select grades in randomly selected elementary schools across the state. This year, they have chosen to screen 2nd and 3rd graders and this year our school has been invited to participate! Screenings will take place during the school day on October 9th. The visual oral health screening takes only a few minutes per child and is done by a Registered Dental Hygienist. A result of the screening will be sent home in their backpack at the end of the day. No dental services are provided, only a quick visual screening. For more information please visit smilesurveywa.org. For questions, feel free to reach out to me at nursesd@cersd.org or by calling (509) 649-4705.
This survey does have the option to opt out. If you are choosing to opt your student out of the survey, please fill out and return the opt out form sent home in their backpacks to the office by Friday, October 6th at 2pm.
Thank you so much!

Dear Ggray Wolf Families,
The Education Foundation for Cle Elum-Roslyn is excited to be hosting the Read-A-Thon again, this year for the entire month of October!
Last year we hosted this fundraiser for the Elementary School and it was a blast! The kids and teachers were so excited each day to watch their minutes and funding grow. We raised over $7,200 for our school.
This year we decided to get the entire district involved with the goal of doubling the amount of minutes read, amount of fun had, and amount of funds raised!
Your child or children will be bringing home a flyer with instructions on how to create their account to track minutes and donations. Throughout the month of October students will log their reading minutes and earn prizes along the way.
Take 30 seconds to check out this short video on how to be successful:
How to Register for our Read-a-thon
YOUR involvement makes a difference! Please help support our Read-A-Thon by making a donation and asking friends and family to do the same.
The Education Foundation for Cle Elum-Roslyn is dedicated to supporting and enhancing quality education for the students of Cle Elum-Roslyn School District. We are raising funds to improve K-12 student learning with S.T.E.A.M education. We would love your support.

Gray Wolf Families!
As we come to the end of the school year, I would like to take this opportunity to say farewell for the summer and to wish you all a happy, safe, and enjoyable break.
It has been an incredible year! The dedication and commitment of our staff, as well as your support and partnership, have been instrumental in making this year a success.
Over the summer, I encourage you to take time to recharge your batteries, relax, and spend quality time with your families and friends.
We look forward to welcoming your children back for another successful year of learning and we cannot wait to see the progress that they will make.
I would like to express my appreciation to our families for your support throughout the year. I am honored to serve as your principal, and I am grateful for all the support and dedication that you show to our community and school each and every day. I wish you all an amazing summer break, and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Sincerely,
David VanGeelkerken
