Help Us Support Families in Need: Donate to the Food Service Scholarship Fund

Dear Cle Elum-Roslyn School District Families and Community,

Every day, many families in our community face the challenge of managing their children’s food service balances while struggling to make ends meet. To support these families, we’ve established the Food Service Scholarship Fund.

This fund helps families experiencing financial hardship by reducing or eliminating their unpaid food service balances. By alleviating this burden, we empower families to focus on their children's education and success.

We invite you to join us in making a difference. Your donation—no matter the size—directly supports local families, ensuring every student has access to nutritious meals and the opportunity to thrive in school.

Together, we can create a stronger, more compassionate community. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to supporting one another.

With gratitude,

Cle Elum-Roslyn School District

What is House Bill 1660?

  • House Bill 1660 (HB1660) is a Washington state law that aims to reduce barriers to students participating in extracurricular activities by waiving fees for those who are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals. The law went into effect on June 11, 2020.

Here are some of the requirements of HB1660:

    • School districts must adopt a policy to waive fees for students in grades 9–12 who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals

    • The fee waiver process must be the same for all students in grades 9–12, regardless of their eligibility for free or reduced-price meals

    • The fee waivers must be automatically applied, where applicable

    • Districts must also reduce fees for students' family members and non-students over 65 who may not be able to pay

To be eligible for fee waivers, students must:

    1. Qualify for the Free and Reduced Meal Program

    2. Have a parent provide consent to release their eligibility status
