Good Morning Cle Elum-Roslyn Parents and Community Members,
Last night a student at the middle school posted a cryptic message on social media about a rumor of a shooting. It did not mention a school, location or date. Parents reached out to school officials about the concerning social media posts.
We immediately notified law enforcement. The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office went out to the home and met with the student and family. Through their investigation the Sheriff's office deemed that it was not a credible threat as the student misunderstood a sibling’s concern about school shootings around the nation. Support will be in place for the adolescent who made a poor decision.
I appreciate that our WSMS students reported it to their parents and parents responded quickly by informing school officials. I also urge parents to please talk to your student about responsible social media use. A great website to use for parenting tips or resources is Common Sense Media. Be Well,
