Hello Cle Elum-Roslyn Parents, Staff and Community Members,

A little over an hour ago, Superintendents in a large number of school districts (about 35) around Washington State, including Cle Elum-Roslyn, received an emailed bomb threat. In addition to our district, Easton, Ellensburg and Damman schools also received the same email.

We immediately notified the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.  While we waited for them to arrive, I instructed building administrators, Scott Ferguson (Safety and Security Coordinator) & Mark Sodestrom (Director of Facilities) to check the buildings and surrounding areas for anything suspicious as the threat specified that the bombs were placed outside of the buildings.

Shortly thereafter, Kittitas Sheriff's Office arrived and deemed this threat as not credible and so we will continue our regular school day.  The Sheriffs Office has been in contact with the FBI, who will be following up on this situation.

Given recent situations within our own school district and in schools across the state and nation, I felt it important that you learn of this from me as soon as possible.

Be well.

John Belcher

Superintendent
