Good Afternoon Cle Elum-Roslyn Community,
If you have not heard, Governor Jay Inslee is lifting most restrictions that have been placed on schools because of COVID-19. Beginning on November 1st the majority of COVID requirements by the Washington State Department of Health Guidance for K-12 schools turn to best practice recommendations. You can find the complete list of recommendations here: https://doh.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2022-10/821165-K12SchoolsChildCare2022-2023.pdf
The Washington Department of Health still requires students to wear masks in the school health rooms as they are considered health care settings. Outbreaks must be communicated to the local health authority which is the Kittitas County Public Health Department. Our school district is then required to follow their outbreak requirements. The Washington State Department of Health still requires isolation of our preschool students. Please see those specific rules for our preschool and transitional kindergarten programs on page 11 Section 3 in the document linked here.
Our Cle Elum-Roslyn School District requirements will return to pre-covid communicable disease rules. Students and staff that are actively ill need to go home and can return once they are fever free for 24 hours and symptoms have significantly improved. This helps to protect us all during cold and flu season.
We will continue to offer testing at the school district and have home tests available for free. Please reach out to our Covid Liaison Jen Root at covidfamilycontact@cersd.org or via her district cell at 509-312-5057. If you have questions, the Covid Liaison can walk you through requirements, recommendations and current DOH best practice guidelines for COVID-19.
Be well.
John Belcher
Superintendent
Cle Elum-Roslyn School District
