Facilities Use Committee

"Planning Today for the Schools of Tomorrow"

About the Committee

In Fall 2024, the district formed a Facilities Use Committee made up of parents, staff, community leaders, administrators, and school board members to guide the development of a long-range plan to assess our current school buildings and plan for the future of education. To assist us in this process, we have hired ALSC Architects out of Spokane to help us with the Scope and Survey. In Washington State, a Scope and Survey is a formal assessment of school facilities that is crucial for qualifying for many Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and state grants. This work will help us make informed decisions and qualify for potential state construction grants and funding through the School Construction Assistance Program (SCAP). Additionally, we have hired Teeter and Crocker, who will assist us with topics such as enrollment trends, capacity issues, the current state of our educational facilities, and help us come to a consensus on the future of education in our community for the next 30 years, including the types of spaces that are conducive to that vision.

Upcoming Meetings & Events

Next Meeting – TBD (April Or May 2025)

Our facilities committee will receive an update from ALSC Architects on some of our input on future facility needs.  They will share refined design/space options and costs for a combined 7-12 building including areas for hands-on learning, additional gym spaces, areas for arts, along with supports such as parking, bus lanes, entrances, etc.

Purpose of the meeting will be to refine the planning options for inclusion in the OSPI Study and Survey report due to OSPI and refine planning for a master plan draft that would go to the school board for their review.  Planning for staff, parent, student and community input for the master plan is in the works.
